Congress Chronicles Day Three: First Runs | B&B Reinebach

September 26, 2026 | Columbus, Ohio
Five horses through the reining pen. Lisa and GQ taking their turn on the rail. Solid first runs and a busy opening day underway.
Day Three for B&B Reinebach brought the first day of competition at the 2026 All American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio. Wayne, Yuma, Kenny, GQ, and Crush put together solid opening runs with us, and Lisa Kinser and GQ stepped into Amateur Select Working Western Rail.
We are pleased with how our horses are settling in and going to work. There is plenty of show ahead, and this was a good way to get started.
A Big Stage and a Full Day’s Work
Congress is something you have to experience to fully appreciate. Multiple arenas running at once. Busy warm-up pens. Long trips between the stalls and the gate. Everywhere you look, another horse and rider are getting ready for their turn.
Managing that takes a crew that pays attention. You track the draws, allow time to get where you need to be, and give each horse the preparation it needs.
Our team from Princeville, Illinois, is settling into that rhythm. Behind every trip into the arena, someone is helping keep the day moving and the horses cared for. We appreciate every one of those hands.
Lisa and GQ: Working Western Rail
Lisa and GQ competed in Amateur Select Working Western Rail, sponsored by Headley Quarter Horses and held concurrently with NSBA Amateur Select Working Western Rail.
For those following along from home, this class showcases the qualities of a good working horse: purposeful movement, smooth transitions, a willing attitude, and responsiveness to its rider.
Horses show together on the rail at the walk, trot, lope, and extended gaits. Judges look for a horse that covers ground comfortably and maintains a natural, consistent rhythm. The rider manages spacing and traffic while keeping the horse focused on the job.
It takes feel and timing to make that work look effortless. We were proud to have Lisa and GQ representing B&B in the pen.
Wayne, Yuma, Kenny, GQ, and Crush Get Underway
Between the two of us, we showed Wayne, Yuma, Kenny, GQ, and Crush in NRHA Novice Horse Level 2 – Open, held concurrently with Novice Horse Level 1 – Open.
The “Novice Horse” designation is based on the horse’s eligible NRHA earnings, with different limits for each level. These classes include experienced professional riders presenting horses that meet those earnings requirements.
Each horse performs a prescribed reining pattern individually, with maneuvers including circles, spins, lead changes, sliding stops, and rollbacks. Eligible horses entered in both levels can have the same run count toward both classes.
All five gave us solid first efforts in the show pen. Those opening trips also let us feel how each horse is handling the Congress environment under competition conditions.
That is valuable information as we plan the rest of their show.
Watch Closely. Ride With Purpose.
Every time we show a horse, we are competing and paying attention.
We feel the rhythm of the circles, the response to our cues, and how the horse carries its focus through the pattern. We take that information back with us and use it to fine-tune the preparation for the next ride.
That process continues throughout a show, including after a solid run. You recognize what is working, keep the preparation consistent, and make thoughtful adjustments where they will help.
Each horse has its own program here. Our job is to stay clear, consistent, and deliberate so we can bring out its best each time we walk through the gate.
A Good First Day in the Books
We have solid runs behind us, horses settling into their jobs, and plenty to look forward to.
Thank you to our owners for trusting us with these horses, to our barn family for the work that keeps everything moving, and to everyone cheering from home. We are proud of this crew and pleased with the start we have made.
Opening day is in the books. We’ll keep doing the work, one horse and one ride at a time.
